Dr. Philip V. Philip's journey as an activist began in 2012 during his undergraduate years at Boston College, catalyzed by the tragic loss of Trayvon Martin. He quickly became deeply involved in activism, lending his voice and energy to pivotal moments such as the protests in Ferguson following the death of Michael Brown, and in Baltimore following the killing of Freddie Gray. As a founding member of the New York City chapter of Black Youth Project 100, Philip has been instrumental in driving movements for justice and freedom, both locally and globally.
Drawing from his experiences and insights gained through international engagements, Philip brings a nuanced perspective to his work. He has traveled extensively, collaborating with activists in South Africa and India, and participating in strategic discussions on global activism. His dedication and impact have been recognized through prestigious awards and fellowships, including the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship, the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Award from Boston College.
